Empty cosmetic bottles
When we've finished using our beauty products, we usually discard them without another thought, empty bottles tossed in the trash. But did you know that discarding these bottles is actually bad for our environment? And much of the packaging that our beauty products come in is plastic or glass. These materials don’t break down quickly, so they could sit in a landfill — or floating in the ocean for years.
When such containers go to landfills, they occupy volume that could be reserved for other waste. This is a huge issue because our landfills are filling up and we must find ways to lessen waste. In addition, as plastic and glass end up in the ocean, they can hurt sea animals and plants. Animals can become tangled in the plastic or confuse it with food, which can be fatal. We can all do our part to make a difference in our environment, it is up to us to consider how we affect the world around us.
